Art Teacher, The American International School- Duhok, Iraq Teacher

This school is based in Duhok, Iraq and is looking for an Art Teacher.

Reporting to: Head of Department; Director of Academic Affairs

Position Summary:
The American International School in Duhok seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Art Teacher to inspire creativity and artistic expression in students. The Art Teacher will foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes artistic growth and appreciation for the arts, while adhering to AIS curriculum guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery:

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned art lessons for various grade levels.
• Integrate technology into lessons to enhance instruction and foster digital literacy.

Classroom Environment:

• Create a positive, inclusive classroom that encourages creativity, collaboration, and respect.
• Employ diverse teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.

Student Assessment and Development:

• Evaluate student progress using formative and summative assessments.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with parents/guardians.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and counselors to support holistic student development.

Professional Collaboration:

• Work closely with the Head of Department, Director of Academic Affairs, and wellness counselors.
• Participate in professional development and school events, including workshops and extracurricular activities.

Classroom Management:

• Establish effective management techniques to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

Community Engagement:

• Chaperone or assist in planning school events, promoting a vibrant school culture.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Experience: Proven experience teaching in an educational setting; knowledge of instructional strategies and child development.
• Skills:
  • Technological proficiency for instructional purposes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for fostering creativity.
• Languages: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Kurdish is a plus.
