Role Overview: DP English Literature Teacher
As a DP English Literature Teacher, you will guide students through complex literary texts, foster analytical writing skills, and build a deep appreciation for literature. You will play a key role in preparing students for success in the IB Diploma Programme and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach IB DP English Literature according to the IB framework
- Develop engaging lesson plans that promote inquiry, reflection, and discussion
- Guide students through textual analysis, essay writing, and oral presentations
- Assess student work using IB criteria and provide detailed feedback
- Contribute to the school’s English Department curriculum planning
- Support students with university preparation where appropriate
- Participate in school events and professional development activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Literature, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience, ideally in an IB DP environment
- Strong understanding of IB assessment standards and curriculum goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for literature and student engagement
- Ability to integrate technology effectively in the classroom
- Commitment to personal professional growth and lifelong learning
