This school is based in Amman, Jordan and is looking for a Drama Teacher.

Overview:

The Little Academy is seeking a dynamic and passionate Drama Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for theater and performance and be dedicated to inspiring creativity and self-expression in young learners. As a Drama Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging drama lessons that encourage students to explore acting, storytelling, improvisation, and theatrical techniques. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in fostering confidence, communication skills, and teamwork through the performing arts.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive drama curriculum for students across different age groups, integrating theater history, dramatic literature, and performance skills.
  • Plan and lead interactive drama activities, exercises, and games that promote imagination, empathy, and self-confidence.
  • Teach fundamental acting techniques, including voice projection, stage movement, characterization, and scene study, and provide opportunities for students to develop their acting abilities.
  • Facilitate opportunities for students to collaborate on scripted and improvised performances, including plays, skits, monologues, and ensemble work.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, expressing themselves creatively, and exploring their unique artistic talents.
  • Foster critical thinking and analytical skills through discussions and reflections on dramatic texts, themes, and performances.
  • Assess student progress and performance through observation, participation, and evaluation of rehearsals and performances, and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate drama across the curriculum and participate in interdisciplinary projects and events.
  • Engage with parents, caregivers, and the broader school community to showcase students’ dramatic achievements and celebrate their artistic expression.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts, Drama Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching drama or theater to children in a school or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of theater history, dramatic literature, and performance techniques.
  • Passion for working with young learners and fostering their creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore and take risks.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and adaptability in lesson planning and instruction.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and the broader school community.
