Role Overview
As an EAL Teacher, you will support students whose first language is not English, helping them build proficiency and confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You will design engaging lessons, integrate language development into subject learning, and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure all students can access the curriculum. Beyond language instruction, you will play a vital role in fostering intercultural understanding and supporting student growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging EAL lessons that develop academic English skills
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners at varying language proficiency levels
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language support into the wider curriculum
- Use assessment tools to monitor progress and provide constructive feedback
- Support extracurricular activities that enhance language development and student confidence
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that values cultural diversity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting
- Strong knowledge of EAL pedagogy and familiarity with the IB curriculum
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to professional growth and innovative teaching practices
- High level of proficiency in spoken and written English
