Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of Early Years Teacher (typically teaching children aged 3-5). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, play-based learning experiences across all EYFS areas of learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, stimulating, play-based learning experiences aligned with the EYFS framework and iCAN’s commitment to holistic development.
- Assess and track individual student development against the EYFS learning goals consistently using observation and formative assessment techniques. Provide timely, constructive communication to parents/guardians.
- Maintain a safe, highly organized, and stimulating indoor and outdoor classroom environment conducive to active exploration and child-centered learning.
- Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and early years leadership to ensure curriculum consistency and continuity of learning.
- Implement effective and diverse classroom management and motivational techniques suitable for the early years age group, emphasizing positive behavior guidance.
- Actively participate in professional development sessions focused on British ECE best practices and contribute to wider school initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, communicating clearly about curriculum goals and student success.
Qualifications
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or a closely related field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification, preferably Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), or equivalent certification specifically for Early Years teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Early Years Teacher, ideally within an international school environment using the British EYFS framework.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and assessment methods.
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Proactive Approach: Be independent, self-motivated, and willing to proactively enrich the curriculum and contribute to school life.
