Role Overview: Early Years Teacher
As an Early Years Teacher, you will create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that promotes the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of young children. You will design play-based, age-appropriate learning experiences that align with the Alberta curriculum and support early literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons for preschool-aged children
- Promote active learning through play, exploration, and inquiry
- Observe and assess student progress using developmentally appropriate tools
- Maintain clear communication with families and staff to support each child’s growth
- Create a warm, inclusive, and respectful learning atmosphere
- Collaborate with fellow educators to enrich the Early Years program
- Participate in professional development and school-wide events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., Alberta certification, QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of experience in an Early Years or Kindergarten setting
- Strong understanding of play-based learning and early years pedagogy
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Passion for teaching young learners in an international school setting
- Confidence in using technology to support learning and documentation
