Founded by Daniel and Karen Pritzker, the academy offers full scholarships covering all educational and living costs. JPA follows a rigorous international curriculum designed to meticulously prepare graduates for successful university admission both domestically and internationally. Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of Elementary Teacher (typically teaching Grades K-5). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across all core elementary subjects within a college-preparatory framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous lessons across all core subjects in the Elementary homeroom setting. Align instruction with international college-preparatory curriculum standards.
- Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and the application of core skills across subject areas.
- Assess student performance and progress consistently using formative and summative methods. Provide constructive, detailed feedback and collaborate with academic leadership on student advancement.
- Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to intense academic focus and intellectual growth.
- Collaborate effectively with specialist teachers, grade-level colleagues, and primary leadership to ensure curriculum consistency and support student welfare.
- Implement effective classroom management and motivational techniques suitable for high-achieving, scholarship students, emphasizing high expectations.
- Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment and wider school initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/community members, communicating clearly about curriculum goals and student success.
Qualifications
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education, Primary Education, or a closely related field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Primary/Elementary teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Elementary Homeroom Teacher, ideally within an international school or a highly rigorous educational setting.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of international primary curriculum standards (e.g., American, British/Cambridge, IB PYP).
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Proactive Approach: Be independent, self-motivated, and willing to proactively enrich the curriculum and develop wider school initiatives.
