This school is based in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, Antigua and is looking for Primary School English Teachers.

Antigua International School seeks an outstanding educator who is:

  • Fluent in English (some knowledge of Spanish preferred)
  • Highly qualified – Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of two years of teaching experience is desired
  • Familiar with best practices used in teaching of reading and writing, along with the Science of Reading research (preferred) or enthusiastic to take professional development courses in this area
  • Able to reach a wide variety of learners through differentiated teaching methods
  • A great communicator – in writing and interpersonally – with colleagues and parents
  • Able to work in a dynamic and active setting

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Primary School English Teacher:

  • Plans and delivers engaging classes in mathematics, reading, writing, natural and social sciences.
  • Implements a wide variety of teaching strategies that meet individual student needs and abilities, as well as the particular needs of English Language Learners.
  • Creates a safe learning environment that is conducive AIS’ mission and vision.
  • Implements a range of assessments to evaluate student learning and establishes long-range goals, instructional objectives, and methods.
  • Brings out the best in students by continually monitoring their work and setting high expectations, modeling enthusiasm for the love of learning.
  • Competently utilizes media and technology as a teaching tool and actively engages with Service Learning projects.
  • Builds strong relationships with all stakeholders and engages in the professional life of the school.
  • Provides leadership in drafting, revising, and implementing the relevant grade curriculum, working cooperatively with colleagues to connect learning across subjects.
  • Demonstrates accurate, up-to-date knowledge of subject matter, maintains excellent attendance, and adheres to all school policies and regulations.
  • Recognizes the importance of and actively participates in supervision duties and the after-school program, assuming responsibility willingly and going above and beyond.
