ELL Teacher, MEF International School Istanbul, Turkey

This school is based in Istanbul, Turkey and is looking for an ELL Teacher.

MEF International School Istanbul is seeking a dedicated and experienced English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students in their language development and creating inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide English language instruction to students who are learning English as an additional language.
2. Develop and implement engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of ELL students.
3. Assess students’ language proficiency levels and monitor their progress over time.
4. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff members to support ELL students’ integration into the mainstream curriculum.
5. Utilize technology and other instructional resources effectively to enhance language learning experiences.
6. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes curiosity, confidence, and cultural awareness.
7. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on students’ language development and progress.

Qualifications:

1. Fluent English speaker with certification.
2. Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant academic discipline.
3. Teaching certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
4. Minimum of three years of teaching experience, preferably working with ELL students.
5. Experience with IB PYP/DP, Cambridge Checkpoint, or IGCSE curriculum is preferred.
6. Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.
7. Open-mindedness, intercultural awareness, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
