This school is based in Amman, Jordan and is looking for an MYP English language Teacher.

The IB MYP English Language Teacher is responsible for implementing and teaching the Middle School students according to the International Baccalaureate curriculum. The teacher acts as a learner, motivator, and communicator, providing professional expertise and high-quality teaching and learning experiences. The role involves leading and facilitating diverse and effective learning experiences using various methods in a supportive and positive climate across the school. The teacher delivers a coherent, balanced, integrated, inquiry-based program, preparing students for international programs in a stimulating, challenging, and well-organized learning environment while collaborating with other teachers to contribute to students’ success.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Planning:
  • Work independently and collaboratively to design and refine the curriculum.
  • Plan collaboratively units of inquiry that correlate with the department’s scope and sequence and IB requirements and guidelines.
  • Revise the department’s overview and scope and sequence.
  • Collaborate with teachers to contribute to students’ success.

 

Teaching & Learning:
  • Deliver high-quality lessons within the IB framework to meet the individual needs of all students.
  • Use teaching methods that engage students and stimulate intellectual curiosity, including effective questioning, presentation, and resources.
  • Create diverse, challenging, and engaging learning experiences for all students.
  • Motivate students to perform at their best through differentiated instruction and varied teaching styles.
  • Monitor students’ performance and progress to enhance understanding and master skills through effective assessment.

 

Student Engagement & Support:
  • Nurture meaningful relationships with students and provide the individual attention they need.
  • Communicate regularly and constructively with students and parents.
  • Set high expectations for student behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well-focused teaching and positive relationships.

 

Professional Development & Collaboration:
  • Work as a member of a team, positively contributing to effective working relations within the school.
  • Communicate with parents and external bodies, following school policies.
  • Attend school events, workshops, and student-led conferences.
  • Attend IB authorized training and stay current with all relevant changes to the IB guide.
  • Attend weekly department meetings.
  • Carry out any other duties or responsibilities requested by the principal.
  • Take on the responsibilities of a Year Coordinator or a Homeroom teacher upon request (if applicable).

 

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in English Language & Literature or a relevant field.
  • Teacher’s certificate for teaching English or a teaching certificate is a plus.
  • IB experience and training is a plus.
  • Proficiency in computer skills to creatively use technology in the classroom during lessons.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Professionalism, commitment, integrity, strength of character, and perseverance.
  • Commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and evaluating skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.
