Overview:

Amman French School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Literature Teacher to join our dynamic team. The Literature Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive literature lessons that foster students’ appreciation for literary works, critical thinking skills, and language proficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students to explore the world of literature, develop their analytical abilities, and cultivate a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a stimulating and challenging literature curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational goals, academic standards, and French language program objectives.
  • Plan and deliver dynamic and interactive literature lessons that engage students in the exploration, analysis, and interpretation of a diverse range of literary texts, genres, and themes.
  • Introduce students to classic and contemporary literary works from various cultures, regions, and time periods, fostering their appreciation for different literary traditions, styles, and voices.
  • Facilitate classroom discussions, debates, and activities that encourage students to critically analyze and interpret literary texts, identify key themes and motifs, and articulate their insights and interpretations effectively.
  • Incorporate multimedia resources, technology tools, and digital platforms to enhance literature instruction, support differentiated learning needs, and provide opportunities for creative expression and collaboration.
  • Assess student learning and progress through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, including essays, presentations, projects, quizzes, and discussions, providing constructive feedback and support for student growth and development.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to participate actively in literature studies, share their perspectives, and express themselves creatively.
  • Foster a love of reading and lifelong learning by cultivating students’ literacy skills, vocabulary development, and critical reading habits through independent reading, book clubs, and literary analysis activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate literature into interdisciplinary units, thematic studies, and cross-curricular projects that promote connections between literature and other subject areas, such as history, social studies, and the arts.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on curriculum, assignments, assessments, and student progress, and addressing any concerns or questions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and curriculum planning sessions to enhance teaching practices, share resources and ideas, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the literature program.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Literature, English Language and Literature, Comparative Literature, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Teaching certification or qualification in Literature, French, or a relevant subject area.
  • Proven experience teaching literature at the secondary level, with a strong knowledge of literary analysis, critical theory, and literary genres and traditions.
  • Passion for literature and a commitment to inspiring students to explore, appreciate, and critically engage with a wide range of literary texts and cultural perspectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities in literature studies and discussions.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and innovation, with the ability to design and deliver dynamic and interactive literature lessons that cater to the interests and needs of all learners.
  • Collaborative mindset, professionalism, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed.
