Geography Teacher – American Gulf School
American Gulf School is looking for an experienced and passionate Geography Teacher to join our faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students, develop their understanding of the world, and promote geographical inquiry in a dynamic academic setting.
About American Gulf School
American Gulf School is a premium American IB World School delivering the American curriculum through the IB framework. Accredited by COGNIA, we provide the American High School Diploma and are the only school in Sharjah working toward a full IB continuum. As an IB World School, we are authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). Additionally, we are a candidate for the IB Career-related Programme (CP), aiming to become the first IB World Continuum School in Sharjah.
Job Role: Geography Teacher
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging geography lessons aligned with the IB framework and American curriculum.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the study of physical and human geography.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies.
- Encourage inquiry-based learning by integrating real-world case studies and geographical concepts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and best teaching practices.
- Communicate with parents and guardians to support student learning and academic growth.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
- At least two years of geography teaching experience.
- Strong understanding of geographical inquiry, GIS applications, and global issues.
- Passion for fostering a student-centered and engaging classroom environment.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
