Role: Head of Department – Primary English
We seek a strong leader who can guide the English department and contribute meaningfully to the broader academic development of our primary learners. The ideal candidate combines subject expertise with the ability to lead and inspire teachers, drive curriculum excellence, and foster a love for language and literature among students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership for the Primary English Department
- Design, implement, and evaluate effective English language and literacy programs
- Mentor and support primary English teachers to enhance instructional practices
- Analyze student data to inform teaching strategies and target improvements
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives, strategic planning, and community engagement
- Foster inclusive learning environments that support diverse student needs
- Collaborate with school leaders to maintain high academic standards
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or English; PGDE or postgraduate qualification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a school setting
- Proven success in teaching English at the primary level
- Strong background in staff development, curriculum planning, and performance evaluation
- Ability to lead change, manage teams effectively, and communicate clearly with all stakeholders
- Proficient in using data and digital tools to support learning and improvement
- Fluent in spoken and written English
