Role: Head of Secondary
As the Head of Secondary, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the school’s educational standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and promoting high standards of safeguarding, student well-being, and child protection.
- Supporting, representing, and deputising for the Principal/CEO.
- Developing and implementing the School Improvement Plan, Strategic Direction, and Self-Evaluation framework.
- Driving academic achievement and ensuring the school’s Outstanding status under the Dubai Schools Inspection Framework and British Schools Overseas (BSO) standards.
- Mentoring and coaching staff to enhance teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
- Establishing clear communication channels with staff, students, and parents to foster a collaborative school environment.
- Implementing effective policies that support student development, staff performance, and school routines.
- Encouraging staff to deliver engaging and innovative lessons that meet diverse learning needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
- A leadership qualification like NPQH or NPQSL (preferred).
- At least five years of proven teaching experience in a Secondary British curriculum school.
- Previous experience in a leadership role with a track record of improving educational outcomes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trust, inspire staff, and promote a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and IT skills to effectively manage staff, engage with parents, and lead school initiatives.
- A proactive approach to enhancing teaching and learning across the secondary phase.
