Secondary School Assistant Principal, International School of Saint Lucia, Antigua

This school is based in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, Antigua and is looking for a Secondary School Assistant Principal.

Under the direction of the divisional principal, the Assistant Principal serves as an educational leader and assists the principal in overseeing activities, programs, student life, and services of the school. This role encompasses 50% administrative duties and 50% other duties, which may include classroom teaching, instructional support, or special projects as needed.

Education And Experience:
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience in grades 1-12
  • Advanced degree in Education preferred.
  • Experience with or a commitment to professional learning in educational leadership. Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about current trends and developments in education with a demonstrated understanding of effective teaching and learning across the grades.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the principal in overseeing the organization, activities, programs, student life, and services of the secondary school.
  • Member of the extended school leadership team, participating in discussions, providing recommendations, and making decisions related to the overall operation of AIS.
  • Ensure a safe, orderly learning environment conducive to AIS’ mission and vision, encouraging student responsibility for behavior.
  • Conduct teacher evaluations according to the AIS Evaluation Protocol, making recommendations to improve teaching and learning.
  • Lead professional learning and conduct meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  • Foster positive relations with stakeholders, keeping the community informed and responsive to their needs and concerns.
  • Support recruitment and hiring processes and oversee the development, implementation, refinement, and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with the Secondary team and the whole school community.
  • Assume leadership of the division in the absence of the Principal and perform other tasks as assigned.
