Assistant Head Teacher – SENDco Role

As an Assistant Head Teacher – SENDco, you will:

• Lead and inspire teachers and support staff to deliver exceptional education for students with special educational needs (SEN).
• Develop and implement strategies that promote inclusive teaching practices.
• Monitor student progress, ensuring timely interventions for those requiring additional support.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the school’s SEN vision and improve outcomes for all learners.
• Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide holistic support.
• Guide staff in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting teaching strategies for diverse learning needs.
• Ensure compliance with SEN policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
• Support the professional growth of staff through coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A recognized teaching qualification such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent. (Online or Open University degrees are not accepted.)
• At least 5 years of proven experience teaching in a British curriculum Primary School.
• Experience in a similar leadership role, particularly in SEN education.
• A strong track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
• Excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to connect with students, staff, and parents.
• A proactive, creative, and enthusiastic approach inside and outside the classroom.
