Deputy Headteacher, The British School Al Khubairat, United Arab Emirates

This school is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and is looking for a Deputy Headteacher. 

Position Overview: The British School Al Khubairat is seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy Headteacher to join its senior leadership team. The Deputy Headteacher will play a crucial role in the strategic development and operational management of the school, working closely with the Headteacher to ensure the delivery of high-quality education. This role involves leading and inspiring staff, driving academic excellence, and fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. The Deputy Headteacher will also be responsible for overseeing specific areas of school improvement, curriculum development, and student welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management: Assist the Headteacher in the overall leadership and management of the school. Provide strategic direction and operational oversight, ensuring that the school’s vision and goals are effectively implemented.
• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Curriculum Manager and Heads of Departments to oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s curriculum. Ensure that the curriculum is rigorous, inclusive, and aligned with educational standards.
• Teaching and Learning: Monitor and support the quality of teaching and learning across the school. Implement strategies to enhance student achievement and ensure that all students have access to high-quality education.
• Staff Development: Lead professional development initiatives for teachers and support staff. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth, ensuring that all staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
• Student Welfare: Oversee student welfare programs, ensuring that the school provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students. Implement policies and practices that promote student well-being and personal development.
• Parental Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and the wider school community. Communicate effectively with parents about school policies, student progress, and upcoming events.
• School Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at school improvement, including data analysis, self-evaluation, and action planning. Work with the senior leadership team to identify areas for development and implement strategies to address them.
• Compliance and Safeguarding: Ensure that the school complies with all local regulations and educational standards. Oversee safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
• Operational Management: Assist in the management of the school’s resources, including staffing, budgeting, and facilities. Ensure that the school operates efficiently and effectively, maximizing resources to support educational outcomes.
• Substitute Leadership: Act as the Headteacher in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the school and the continuation of leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
  • A Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or a related discipline is preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role within a British or international school setting.
• Skills:
  • Strong leadership and management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of curriculum development and instructional best practices.
  • Proven track record in school improvement and raising student achievement.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
