Role Overview: High School Mathematics Teacher
As a High School Math Teacher, you will design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum. You will challenge students to think analytically and solve complex problems, while also fostering a love of mathematics and lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach mathematics to high school students using Alberta curriculum standards
- Develop lesson plans that promote inquiry, understanding, and application of concepts
- Assess and report student progress through varied and effective strategies
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Build a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Use technology to support and enhance student learning
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and school initiatives
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (e.g., Alberta Certificate, QTS, PGCE, B.Ed.)
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, ideally at the high school level
- Familiarity with the Alberta curriculum or other international programs
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Dedication to professional development and lifelong learning
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
