This school is based in Chengdu, China and is looking for a Classics Teacher – Primary School

BASIS International & Bilingual Schools Chengdu opened in 2022 and serves students in Grades Pre-K – 11, with courses eventually being offered through Grade 12 and a capacity of over 1,800 students. This beautiful campus is our first to house both an international and bilingual curriculum in one location. Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province—home to famous historic sites, cuisine, and culture. Our school is located in a new, high-tech area in the southwest of the city, convenient to the airport and with plenty of green space.

At BASIS, we believe students can achieve authentic learning through robust challenges. From middle school onwards, our students engage in advanced coursework, setting high expectations while establishing a solid foundation in core subjects, revisiting and reinforcing concepts in greater depth each year to prepare for entry into honors and Advanced Placement levels starting in ninth grade. As an AP Chemistry teacher, you build upon this strong foundation, deepening students’ understanding of the subject while preparing them for success in AP testing. Through student-guided labs, you give them hands-on experience to further enhance their understanding.

As a Classics teacher, you build upon this strong foundation, covering a variety of topics pertaining to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Areas such as culture, geography, religion, and society are included. You also collaborate with fellow teachers to tie in lessons with what students are learning in other subjects, such as music and art.

Who We’re Looking For

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in your subject area (Elementary and Early Education degrees are also highly valued for Pre-K through Grade 5).
• Experience: At least two years as the lead teacher in a classroom, a requirement for obtaining a working visa.
