Role Overview: IB DP Design Technology Teacher
The IB DP Design Technology Teacher will deliver project-based learning experiences that encourage innovation, experimentation, and critical thinking. You will guide students through the IB Design Technology curriculum, focusing on digital tools, engineering principles, and sustainable design processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the IB DP Design Technology syllabus
- Support student inquiry through hands-on design projects and prototyping
- Integrate digital tools such as CAD, 3D printing, and modeling software into instruction
- Foster collaboration, reflection, and iteration in the design cycle
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external exams
- Maintain a well-organized and safe design lab environment
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or equivalent certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE)
- Minimum two years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB or international school setting
- Proficiency in design software and digital fabrication tools
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Fluent English proficiency, both written and spoken
- Strong commitment to professional development and continuous learning
- Ability to inspire students and cultivate a growth mindset through design
