Position Overview: IB DP English Teacher
The IB DP English Teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with IB standards. The role requires a deep understanding of IB curriculum frameworks and a commitment to fostering students’ critical thinking, literary analysis, and communication skills. The ideal candidate demonstrates subject expertise, creativity, and the ability to inspire excellence in an international learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, inquiry-driven English Language and Literature lessons based on the IB DP curriculum
- Develop lesson plans that challenge students while supporting diverse learning styles and academic abilities
- Prepare students for success in IB assessments through regular formative and summative evaluation
- Guide students in analyzing texts from various genres, cultures, and time periods
- Encourage thoughtful discussion, creative writing, and analytical thinking
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary units and school-wide initiatives
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support academic progress
- Integrate digital tools to enhance learning experiences and assessment
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the wider school community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of two years of IB DP or similar international curriculum experience
- In-depth knowledge of IB DP English curriculum and assessment practices
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for working in diverse, multicultural school environments
- Proactive and collaborative approach to curriculum development and student support
- Excellent English proficiency, both written and spoken
- Ability to integrate educational technologies effectively
