Role Overview: IB DP English Teacher
As an IB DP English Teacher, you will guide upper secondary students through challenging and engaging coursework that prepares them for the IB Diploma. You will foster critical thinking, academic writing, and global awareness while helping students explore complex literary texts across cultures and genres.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach IB DP English Language and Literature in accordance with IB standards
- Develop engaging lesson plans that support reading, writing, and analytical skills
- Foster discussions that promote critical thinking and global perspectives
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary planning and curriculum development
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external IB examinations
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and faculty members
- Participate in professional development and school events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or equivalent certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS)
- At least 2 years of experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably in an IB or international school
- Deep understanding of IB DP English curriculum and assessment criteria
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Proactive, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement
