Role Overview
The IB MYP/DP Mandarin Language Teacher will play an essential role in developing students’ fluency, cultural awareness, and appreciation for Mandarin language and literature. This position involves teaching across both the Middle Years Program (MYP) and the Diploma Program (DP), guiding students at different levels of proficiency and preparing them for academic success in higher education and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Mandarin language classes in alignment with the IB MYP and DP curriculum
- Design engaging lessons that develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills
- Promote inquiry-based learning and encourage cross-cultural understanding
- Support students in preparing for IB Diploma Mandarin assessments and examinations
- Incorporate technology to enhance language acquisition and classroom interaction
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and extracurricular activities
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Mandarin Language, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of three years’ teaching experience, preferably with IB or international curricula
- Strong knowledge of Mandarin language teaching and pedagogy
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaboration in a multicultural environment
