Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Mathematics Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous mathematics curriculum across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). You will lead a dynamic learning environment, ensuring students master complex mathematical concepts through inquiry, logical reasoning, and evidence-based analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality Mathematics lessons that align fully with IB MYP and DP frameworks and assessment requirements.
- Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the practical application of mathematical theories to real-world scenarios.
- Foster logical reasoning by encouraging students to investigate mathematical patterns and solve complex problems independently.
- Assess student progress consistently using IB-specific rubrics to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for examination preparation.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to approach mathematical challenges with confidence.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and coordinators to refine curriculum delivery and ensure vertical alignment across the secondary school.
- Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
- Utilize new technologies, such as graphing calculators, dynamic geometry software, and digital simulations, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
- Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as math competitions, logic clubs, or STEM projects.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international IB workshops.
Qualification
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field of science or mathematics education.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary Mathematics teaching position.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
- Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
- Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
- Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
- Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
