ISU is a non-profit, co-educational day school in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, serving students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school offers the full International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum—Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP).
As the only school in Mongolia accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), ISU maintains high international standards. Role Overview
The IB MYP/DP Visual Arts Teacher will guide students through the creative process, helping them build technical skills and a deep appreciation for the visual arts. This role requires an educator who can foster artistic expression while preparing students for assessments within the IB framework. The successful candidate will promote innovation, critical thinking, and visual communication, while integrating new technologies into art instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach engaging and challenging MYP and DP Visual Arts lessons aligned with IB standards
- Support students in developing portfolios and preparing for exhibitions
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and critical analysis of visual culture
- Use a variety of media, materials, and digital tools to enhance learning
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects
- Provide constructive feedback to help students grow as artists
- Contribute to school-wide events, such as art showcases and community exhibitions
- Inspire students to connect artistic practice with global perspectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in an international school
- Strong knowledge of IB MYP and DP Visual Arts curriculum
- Effective classroom management and communication skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Ability to engage with a multicultural student body and inspire creativity
