Role Overview: IB MYP English Teacher
As an IB MYP English Teacher, you will engage middle school students in the exploration of literature, language, and communication. Using the MYP framework, you will inspire learners to think critically, write creatively, and express themselves confidently through a variety of texts and learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons aligned with the IB MYP framework
- Promote inquiry-based learning that fosters students’ analytical and reflective thinking
- Design formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and learning experiences
- Support student well-being and build strong, respectful relationships in the classroom
- Communicate regularly with parents about student learning and progress
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB or international school setting
- Strong understanding of the IB MYP framework and student-centered pedagogy
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
- High level of fluency in English (spoken and written)
- Passion for inspiring young learners through literature and language
- Self-motivated, reflective, and committed to continuous professional growth
