Role Overview: IB PYP Mathematics Teacher
The IB PYP Mathematics Teacher will design and lead math instruction for primary years students. The ideal candidate demonstrates a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, differentiation strategies, and the IB PYP framework. You will promote curiosity, build confidence in numeracy, and encourage a lifelong love of mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate math lessons aligned with the IB PYP
- Integrate inquiry-based learning strategies that encourage exploration and problem-solving
- Monitor student progress and provide individualized support where needed
- Collaborate with PYP colleagues on interdisciplinary units of inquiry
- Communicate regularly with families about student growth and achievement
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, curriculum development, and co-curricular programs
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports student agency and curiosity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB PYP setting
- In-depth understanding of mathematics pedagogy and inquiry-based learning
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice
- Ability to integrate educational technology into math instruction
