This school is based in Ankara, Turkey and is looking for Learning Support Assistants.

The British Embassy Study Group (BESG) is seeking a caring and committed professional to join our experienced and enthusiastic team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Student Support Lead and Class Teacher(s) to support the specific academic, social, and behavioural needs of a pupil at our school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Academic Support:
    • Assist in implementing individualized learning plans and supporting students’ academic progress.
    • Provide one-on-one or small group support to help students understand and complete assignments.
    • Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Behavioural Support:
    • Implement strategies to manage and improve student behaviour.
    • Support students in developing positive social skills and managing conflicts.
    • Encourage and reinforce positive behaviour and participation in classroom activities.
  • Social Support:
    • Assist students in developing social skills and building relationships with peers.
    • Facilitate inclusive play and social interaction during recess and other non-academic times.
    • Provide emotional support and encouragement to help students feel confident and engaged.
  • Collaborative Efforts:
    • Work closely with the Student Support Lead and Class Teacher(s) to ensure a consistent and effective approach.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of support plans.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals as required.

 

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience working or volunteering in a school or educational setting.
  • Sound knowledge of child development and experience in supporting academic and social skills of children.
  • Ability to employ a range of strategies to motivate and engage children and maintain appropriate standards of behaviour.
  • Imaginative, creative, and able to use initiative.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a high-performing team.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Fluent English speaker.
