This school is based in Jakarta, Indonesia and is looking for a High School Mathematics
PURPOSE
The High School (HS) Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering our math curriculum to students in an engaging, stimulating and effective manner, using varied instructional strategies. The Mathematics Teacher shall demonstrate the ability to promote inquiry-based learning, in which students work both collaboratively and independently to create new knowledge, share materials, problem solve and discuss mathematical concepts. This position shall collaborate with peers to plan and deliver content to all levels of students from grade 9 to 12 including IB and AP curriculums.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES and ATTRIBUTES
1. Minimum Bachelor’s degree, in Mathematics and/or secondary education Mathematics preferred
2. Teaching credential, in Mathematics preferred
3. Minimum five years of experience in teaching High School Mathematics
4. Experience in a school with a well-defined High School philosophy – International setting preferred
5. Demonstrated organizational ability, and effective communicative, writing and interpersonal skills
6. Experience teaching a range of levels of mathematics
7. Documented knowledge of the IB program, and/or a working knowledge of the AP program is an advantage
8. Experience with, and commitment to, a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model
9. Advocate for differentiated instruction and EAL in the mainstream
10. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology within lessons in response to student learning needs
11. Demonstrated background in associating with students outside of the classroom environment – this could include experiences in drama, sports, clubs, music or other non-academic endeavors.
12. A clear commitment to Child Safeguarding, safety, service learning and environmental stewardship
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Providing students with positive and appropriate learning experiences
a. Faculty must demonstrate commitment to professional inquiry and engage in collective processes of:
i. Identifying essential elements of curriculum and building common units of instruction
ii. Personalizing instruction, knowing and engaging each learner, using and planning appropriate interventions
iii. Providing timely and precise feedback using common formative and summative assessments to provide both meaningful student achievement data to inform instructional practice and an assessment policy that encourages success
b. Creating a safe learning environment
i. Planning learning sequences that enable students to meet standards and benchmarks of courses as well as promoting growth in our Learning Dispositions (Resilience, Resourcefulness, Relating and Reflectiveness)
ii. Collaboratively supporting students with Learning Support and executing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) as appropriate for students in their charge
2. Building positive interpersonal relationships
a. Promoting positive interactions among students who have differing cultural, linguistic, and national backgrounds
i. Fostering a sense of identity and pride in the school among students, parents and colleagues
ii. Maintaining an open attitude toward new ideas and accepting of others whose experiences, opinions and beliefs may differ
b. Collaborating with grade-level teams, School Wide teams and the High School Student Support Teams
3. Seeking ongoing professional growth
a. Continuing to acquire new learning and reflecting new learning and professional practice through engaging in opportunities for in-service and workshop offerings as well as sharing professional knowledge with colleagues
b. Working closely with Department Heads, Curriculum Leaders and specialist teachers to plan cooperatively, develop curriculum and maintain a positive, professional school climate
c. Setting goals for professional development, taking advantage of professional development opportunities and demonstrating current best practice in the field of education in general and mathematics education in particular.
