Role Overview

The Middle School Social Studies Teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons that cover world history, geography, civics, and cultural studies. This position involves fostering critical thinking, developing research skills, and encouraging students to connect classroom learning to global issues. Teachers at GCA are also expected to collaborate with colleagues, support extracurricular activities, and integrate Christian values into daily teaching.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach social studies courses aligned with the U.S. curriculum for middle school students
• Create lessons that promote inquiry, analysis, and cross-cultural understanding
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and interdisciplinary projects
• Support students through mentorship and participation in extracurricular programs
• Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field
• Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
• At least three years of relevant teaching experience, ideally in an international or middle school setting
• Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum and pedagogy
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Commitment to professional growth and Christian-based education
