Portuguese as a Second Language (PAL) & Brazilian Culture (CB) Teacher, International School of Curitiba, Brazil

This school is based in Curitiba, Brazil and is looking for a Portuguese as a Second Language (PAL) & Brazilian Culture (CB) Teacher

Responsibilities
● Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in Portuguese language and Brazilian culture.
● Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
● Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
● Collaborate with other faculty members to develop interdisciplinary lessons that enhance students’ understanding of Brazilian and global contexts.
● Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest modern learning strategies, and curriculum updates.
● Engage with the school community, including participation in school events, parent-teacher meetings, and extracurricular activities, including field trips.
● Uphold and promote the school’s mission, values, and policies, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
● Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to coordinate activities and ensure a cohesive educational experience.
● Cultural Sensitivity: Foster an inclusive classroom that respects and celebrates cultural diversity.

● Refrain from proselytizing students, giving them the opportunity to express their ideas and arguments, promoting healthy debates and developing critical thinking.

Requirements
● Teaching Degree (Licenciatura) in Languages Portuguese/English
● Preferably Post-Graduation/Masters/Doctor’s Degree
● Experience in teaching in additional language is desirable
● Proficiency in English (oral and written)
● Strong knowledge of Brazilian Social Studies and the ability to integrate this effectively into the curriculum
