Role Overview

The MS/HS Social Studies Teacher will teach a range of courses that may include history, geography, economics, government, and global studies. This role focuses on helping students develop analytical thinking, research skills, and an understanding of diverse cultures and historical perspectives. Teachers at HIA are also expected to contribute to extracurricular programs, collaborate on curriculum development, and mentor students to reach their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach engaging social studies lessons aligned with international curricula
• Design assessments that measure both knowledge and critical thinking
• Integrate digital tools and resources into classroom learning
• Foster discussions that encourage multiple perspectives and civic responsibility
• Support extracurricular activities such as student clubs or academic competitions
• Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities
• Build strong relationships with students, parents, and fellow educators

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Studies, Education, or a related field
• Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
• Minimum of three years teaching experience, ideally in international or secondary schools
• Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum and pedagogy
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and innovation in teaching
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Ability to work independently and contribute proactively to school initiatives
