Role Overview: MYP English Language Arts Teacher (Grades 6–8)

The MYP ELA Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and inquiry-based English Language Arts instruction to students in Grades 6 to 8, aligned with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) framework. You will cultivate a classroom culture that encourages thoughtful discussion, analytical reading, and expressive writing. This role also involves mentoring students, developing interdisciplinary units, and actively contributing to school life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and teach English Language Arts lessons aligned with the IB MYP framework
• Develop students’ reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills
• Use diverse instructional strategies and integrate technology to enhance learning
• Provide meaningful feedback and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and cross-disciplinary projects
• Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, inquiry, and collaboration
• Participate in school-wide events, professional learning, and community-building initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
• Valid teaching license or certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching English at the middle school level
• Experience with the IB MYP or a similar inquiry-based curriculum is highly desirable
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• High proficiency in spoken and written English
• Self-driven, collaborative, and committed to professional growth
• Comfortable using digital tools to support student learning and assessment
