Role Overview: MYP Music Teacher
The MYP Music Teacher will lead students in developing musical skills and cultural appreciation. You will design and implement a dynamic music curriculum that covers performance, composition, and music theory, aligned with MYP objectives. Lessons should engage students in both collaborative and individual projects while fostering a lifelong love of music.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver MYP Music curriculum through a balanced approach to performance, composition, and listening
- Use a range of teaching strategies that cater to varied learning styles
- Guide students in developing their musical abilities, creativity, and critical thinking
- Collaborate with colleagues to organize concerts, performances, and interdisciplinary projects
- Integrate technology to enhance musical instruction and classroom engagement
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that supports risk-taking and artistic expression
- Actively participate in school events, co-curricular activities, and community-building initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum two years of classroom experience, ideally in an international or MYP setting
- Strong knowledge of music theory, performance practices, and the MYP framework
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Passion for international education and student-centered learning
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and contribute to a global school culture
