Role Overview: MYP Science Teacher
As the MYP Science Teacher, you will deliver the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) science curriculum to middle school students. Your instruction will nurture critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and physics. You will also contribute to collaborative planning and help build an engaging and challenging science program.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement MYP science lessons that promote inquiry and hands-on learning
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom that supports diverse learning needs
- Encourage student-led investigations and interdisciplinary connections
- Participate in school events, science fairs, and professional learning communities
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and student support strategies
- Integrate educational technology to enrich classroom learning experiences
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international setting
- Familiarity with the IB MYP framework or similar international curricula
- Strong knowledge of science content and pedagogy
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Proactive, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement
