Role Overview: MYP Social Studies Teacher
As a Social Studies teacher in the MYP, you will develop and deliver engaging lessons that explore history, geography, civics, and economics through a global lens. You will encourage students to analyze issues, think critically, and connect course content to current events and cultural perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach MYP Social Studies following IB curriculum guidelines
- Create a dynamic classroom environment that promotes inquiry and student-led discussion
- Design assessments that evaluate critical thinking, communication, and research skills
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary units and thematic learning
- Use educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, extracurricular programs, and community events
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and the broader school community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Studies, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB or international school setting
- In-depth understanding of the MYP framework and interdisciplinary instruction
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Passion for international education and working in a multicultural environment
- Self-driven and committed to continuous professional development
