Role Overview: MYP Visual Art Teacher
As an MYP Visual Art Teacher, you will lead engaging and developmentally appropriate art instruction for students in Grades 6–10. You will help students explore a range of artistic techniques, foster creativity, and understand the role of visual art in cultural and global contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver art lessons aligned with the IB MYP framework
- Promote inquiry, reflection, and creative expression
- Introduce students to a variety of media, styles, and techniques
- Foster an inclusive, inspiring, and safe studio environment
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines for interdisciplinary learning
- Guide students through the MYP Arts assessment criteria and personal projects
- Participate in school events, exhibitions, and professional learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, ideally in an international or MYP setting
- Strong knowledge of visual arts education and IB MYP standards
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- High proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Self-motivated, organized, and team-oriented
- Proficiency in educational technology and digital art tools is an advantage
