Colegio Alemán de Temuco
This school is based in Temuco, Chile and is looking for a Teacher
The German School of Temuco was founded in 1887. The founders, mostly settlers from Germany, had the purpose of giving their children values that would allow them to advantageously develop their abilities to face the struggle for life. The founder and first director was Albert Kleinknecht. This first school operated in a room in a private house set up as a classroom, although it lacked the most essential utensils. They used the clay floor as a blackboard and to write on it, the teacher used a creamy substance similar to chalk. As the number of inhabitants of Temuco increased, so did the number of students at the School and therefore it was necessary to think about a larger space. This is how there were temporary spaces that housed the growing number of students, until in 1917 a building of its own was built, which is currently occupied by the Escuela Francia, located in the center of Temuco. Over time, a Boarding School was added to this School, to house students from rural areas, as well as from other cities in the Region. The number of students continued to increase and in 1949 the School Board decided to build another new building, far from the center, near the German Gymnasium and surrounded by a park with native trees. In October 1954, the current German School was inaugurated, located on the corner of Hochstetter and Holandesa streets. Gradually the School completed the teaching levels, until in 1958 the first students of the German School entered the Baccalaureate.
