PE Teacher, ICHK Secondary, Hong Kong

ICHK Secondary

This school is based in Hong Kong, Hong Kong and is looking for a PE Teacher

ICHK is seeking a recent graduate PE teacher to join its dynamic and innovative team. The successful candidate will be a positive role model for our female students, inspiring them through a love of sports, personal determination, and a commitment to growth and resilience. They will also be comfortable accompanying female students on overnight expeditions and discussing female-specific health and wellness topics related to sports and fitness.

Working hours will generally be school hours during term time but may include after school, weekends, designated holidays and occasional overnight duties.  The roster of activities covered by the role will include ISSFHK teams, activities, coaching, house sports, camps and assisting the Outdoor Department.

General Responsibilities & Professional Duties

  • Plans and teaches all form groups PE
  • Maintains a class environment that is safe, educationally effective, and well organised
  • Leads/participates in Deep Learning and Deep Learning+ week
  • Leads/participates in extra-curricular activities
  • Participates in and contributes to departmental and schoolwide development
  • Displays an excellent knowledge of PE as a subject area and a willingness to expand that knowledge
  • Reflects upon and evaluates programmes
  • Helps manage and maintain PE equipment and the upkeep of facilities
  • Communicates effectively with staff, parents, students, and any other stakeholders
  • Actively supports and is involved in the pastoral care of students


Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, or Bachelor Degree in any subjects with Postgraduate Certificate of Education, or equivalent
  • Qualifications in Physical Education, sports science/coaching are desirable
  • A current relevant First Aid Qualification


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Appropriate training and experience/skills to lead students in a range of sports and associated activities
  • Proven ability to work as a team member and able to demonstrate leadership and initiative
  • Familiarity with current Health and Safety requirements in PE
  • Ability to reflect on and evaluate professional practice in order to enhance student learning and assist students to achieve their full potential
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Sensitivity to cultural issues and ability to work proactively with community members from diverse background


Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant instructional and/or proficiency certificates in a range of sports including Touch Rugby, Football, Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Swimming


Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Involvement in the ISSFHK and HKSSF events
  • Curriculum design and collaborative planning with professional colleagues
  • Proficiency in English, Cantonese and/or Putonghua
