Role Overview: Primary Arts Teacher
As a Primary Arts Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons in visual and performing arts, tailored to the developmental stages of primary school students. Your role involves designing dynamic art programs that spark imagination, build artistic skills, and encourage self-expression. You will collaborate with fellow educators, therapists, and specialists to create cross-disciplinary projects and promote student engagement through the arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate arts lessons for primary students
- Incorporate visual arts, music, drama, and movement into the curriculum
- Foster creativity and confidence through hands-on, project-based learning
- Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers and support staff to integrate the arts across subjects
- Prepare students for school exhibitions, performances, and showcases
- Contribute to whole-school events, arts festivals, and curriculum planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Education, or a related field
- Recognized teaching license (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching primary-aged students
- Familiarity with the Australian or UK curriculum is preferred
- Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Passion for inclusive education and the role of the arts in holistic development
