Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of Primary Homeroom Teacher (teaching a single class, typically Years 1 through 6). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across all core primary subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous lessons across all core subjects in the Primary classroom. Align instruction strictly with the Australian Curriculum standards for the assigned Year Level.
- Develop and execute strategies that promote strong foundational literacy and numeracy skills, collaborative learning, and inquiry-based activities across the curriculum.
- Assess student performance and progress consistently using formative and summative methods. Provide constructive, detailed feedback and comprehensive progress reports to students and parents/guardians.
- Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to active learning and intellectual growth.
- Collaborate effectively with specialist teachers, grade-level colleagues, and primary leadership to ensure curriculum continuity and support student welfare.
- Implement effective classroom management and motivational techniques suitable for the primary age group, emphasizing student agency and personal responsibility.
- Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment and wider school initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, communicating clearly about curriculum goals and student success.
Qualifications
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Primary Education, Elementary Education, or a closely related field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, Australian Teaching Certification, or equivalent) specifically for Primary teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Primary Homeroom Teacher, ideally within an international school setting. Significant experience teaching the Australian Curriculum is highly desirable.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (Years 1-6) and its core learning areas.
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
