Role Overview
The Primary/Junior School Visual Arts Teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons that introduce students to various artistic techniques, materials, and concepts. This role requires an educator who can nurture creativity, foster critical thinking, and encourage cultural appreciation through art. The teacher will also support school-wide initiatives by contributing to exhibitions, performances, and collaborative projects that highlight student achievements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality visual arts lessons for primary and junior school students
- Foster a supportive, creative, and inclusive classroom environment
- Guide students in developing technical art skills and exploring different media
- Organize art showcases, exhibitions, and displays to celebrate student work
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular projects that integrate the arts
- Use technology and digital tools to enhance art instruction
- Encourage students to think critically about visual culture and creative expression
- Contribute to the wider school community through activities and events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least three years of teaching experience, preferably in an international setting
- Strong knowledge of international curricula such as IB PYP and IGCSE
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
- Ability to inspire creativity and connect with students of diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in English and confidence using educational technology
