This school is based in Geneva, Switzerland and is looking for a Primary Teacher (Maternity Cover).

Main Purpose of the Role: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Primary Teacher to join our primary section, providing high-quality education to our students. This position is to be filled as part of maternity cover from mid-August 2024 until at least April 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote the school’s mission and vision by assisting students to discover and develop individual strengths, make powerful, life-long global connections, and be their best selves.
  • Contribute to the creation of a caring and inclusive learning environment in which students can flourish, ensuring that each student’s health and well-being are given the necessary priority.
  • Teach primary children according to the curriculum and specific students’ needs, including planning, preparation, differentiation, and evaluation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an integrated curriculum.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including the integration of IT equipment.

 

Skills and Competencies:
Qualifications:
  • Primary teaching qualification, ideally a Master’s degree or PhD.

 

Experience:
  • Successful experience in teaching in the primary section, ideally in an international school setting.

 

Prior Skills and Knowledge:
  • Fluency in English at a native or equivalent level is required.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport with students, balancing firmness, empathy, and fairness.
  • Working knowledge of French is considered an asset.

 

Additional Skills:
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in building positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Collaborative skills, essential for working effectively as part of a team.
  • Growth mindset, reflecting openness to new challenges and a commitment to continual professional development.
  • Effective organization and prioritization skills to manage responsibilities efficiently.

 

Crucial Information:
  • The post holder must always be aware of Child Protection guidelines and observe a professional distance from students while developing effective working and caring relationships.
  • Understanding and embracing the importance of diversity and inclusion and standing against discrimination in any form is crucial.
  • Background investigations and reference checks for the past ten years will be conducted during the selection process.
