This school is based in Istanbul, Turkey and is looking for Primary Classroom Teachers.

To provide high-quality education that supports and encourages the academic, social, and emotional development of primary school students in alignment with the mission and values of Uskudar American Academy.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge students, aligning with the school’s curriculum framework.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning, encouraging students’ active participation and collaboration.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their academic and personal development.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.

 

Classroom Management:
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior, promoting a positive and productive classroom atmosphere.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage student responsibility and independence, fostering a sense of ownership over their learning.

 

Professional Development:
  • Engage in regular professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
  • Participate in school-wide professional development initiatives and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the school community.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback to continuously improve and innovate in the classroom.

 

Community Engagement:
  • Actively participate in school events, activities, and initiatives, contributing to the broader school community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement interdisciplinary projects and school-wide programs.
  • Support extracurricular activities, including clubs, sports, and cultural events, to provide a well-rounded educational experience for students.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification recognized by the Turkish Ministry of Education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or bilingual school setting.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Turkish is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

 

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with international curricula (IB, Cambridge, etc.).
  • Knowledge of contemporary educational practices and technology integration in the classroom.
  • Experience in project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching approaches.
