Founded in 2017, OCAC is a private K–12 international school located in Suzhou, China. The school was established by Chiway Education Group and Suzhou Industrial Park Development Co. to meet the educational needs of returning Chinese families. Role Overview: PYP Homeroom Teacher
As a PYP Homeroom Teacher, you will lead a class of primary students in core subjects, including English, mathematics, social studies, and science. You will implement the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and create a learning environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver daily lessons based on the IB PYP
- Foster inquiry, creativity, and conceptual understanding across subjects
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to interdisciplinary planning
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers
- Participate in school events, meetings, and ongoing training
- Integrate educational technology into classroom instruction
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, teaching license)
- At least 2 years of teaching experience, ideally in a PYP or international school setting
- Familiarity with the IB Primary Years Programme or similar curriculum
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
- Self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative approach to teaching
- Confidence using digital tools to enhance student learning
