Founded in July 2008 on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia, Amman Academy—formerly Sekolah Buin Batu—was established to serve the educational needs of the dependants of employees and contractors of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, operator of the Batu Hijau copper and gold mine. The school provides a secure and vibrant learning environment for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) and delivers globally recognized programs including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The school emphasizes inquiry-based learning, international-mindedness, and student agency.
Role Overview
As a PYP Homeroom Teacher, you will guide primary students through core subjects such as language, mathematics, science, and social studies. You will implement the IB PYP framework to create engaging, student-centered lessons and support the holistic development of young learners. Collaboration with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community will play a vital role in your success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Valid teaching license or recognized certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS)
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar teaching role
- Strong understanding of the IB PYP framework
- Effective classroom management and communication skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Self-motivated, organized, and proactive
- Skilled in using educational technology to enhance learning
- Passionate about working in an international school setting
