Role Overview: PYP Science Teacher
The PYP Science Teacher will lead engaging, inquiry-driven science classes that support the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). This role involves designing units of inquiry that promote experimentation, scientific reasoning, and real-world application. The teacher will also contribute to a cross-disciplinary approach, connecting science to mathematics, language, and the arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement hands-on, inquiry-based science lessons aligned with IB PYP
- Foster students’ curiosity, creativity, and understanding of scientific concepts
- Integrate science learning into transdisciplinary units
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide learning
- Collaborate with colleagues on planning, assessment, and curriculum development
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, and staff
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives and professional development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field
- Recognized teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching science at the primary level
- Familiarity with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) or other international curricula
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Fluency in English
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to professional growth
