Role Overview: PYP Visual Art Teacher
As the PYP Visual Art Teacher, you will deliver engaging visual arts lessons to students in the Primary Years Programme. You will inspire students to explore artistic expression, develop technical skills, and reflect on their creative process. You will also contribute to whole-school exhibitions, cross-disciplinary units, and performance-based projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and teach age-appropriate visual arts lessons in alignment with the IB PYP
- Guide students in using various art media and techniques
- Foster creative thinking and self-expression through project-based learning
- Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers on interdisciplinary units
- Organize student exhibitions and contribute to school-wide arts initiatives
- Communicate regularly with parents and maintain student progress documentation
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school community events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- At least two years of experience in a similar teaching role
- Familiarity with the IB Primary Years Programme or other international curricula
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Willingness to contribute to a collaborative school culture
- Confidence in using digital tools to support visual arts instruction
