This school is based in Dubai, UAE and is looking for a Science Lead Teacher. 

Job Purpose: The Science Lead Teacher at Al Ittihad Private School Jumeira is responsible for delivering high-quality science education and driving innovation in the science curriculum. This role involves leading the department, supporting teachers in professional development, and ensuring that students are engaged and achieving academic excellence. The Science Lead Teacher fosters a collaborative environment that promotes inquiry-based learning and scientific thinking.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership and Departmental Management:
    • Lead and manage the science department, setting goals aligned with the school’s vision.
    • Support science teachers in delivering effective, engaging lessons, and promote professional development within the team.
    • Collaborate with other department heads and senior leadership to implement curriculum innovations and share best practices.
  2. Curriculum Development:
    • Oversee the development and implementation of the science curriculum, ensuring it aligns with national and international standards.
    • Develop new teaching strategies that promote inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking.
    • Monitor student progress and adjust the curriculum as necessary to meet their needs.
  3. Teaching and Learning:
    • Deliver engaging and inspiring science lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities.
    • Encourage the use of technology and practical experiments to enhance learning experiences.
    • Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior, fostering a positive learning environment.
  4. Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Design and implement assessment strategies to track student progress and provide regular feedback.
    • Analyze data to identify areas of improvement in teaching methods and student performance.
    • Collaborate with parents and colleagues to address individual student needs and develop action plans.
  5. Resource Management:
    • Ensure the department is equipped with the necessary resources, including lab equipment and materials.
    • Oversee the maintenance of the science labs and ensure they meet safety standards.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Mentor and support science teachers in their professional growth.
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in science education and implement relevant training for staff.
  7. School Community Engagement:
    • Actively participate in school events, parent meetings, and science fairs.
    • Promote student involvement in science competitions, clubs, and extracurricular activities.

 

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Education. A recognized teaching qualification is required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in science, with a track record of leadership or mentoring roles.
  • Competencies: Strong leadership and organizational skills, expertise in curriculum development, and the ability to inspire both teachers and students.
