This school is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is looking for a Science Teacher.

Position Overview: The Science Teacher at Collegiate International School is responsible for delivering dynamic and engaging science lessons across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and physics, to students in grades 6-12. The teacher will create an inspiring learning environment, fostering curiosity and a deep understanding of scientific concepts. This role includes planning and executing experiments, assessing student progress, and preparing students for internal and external examinations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Curriculum Delivery:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive science lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum standards.
    • Teach a range of scientific disciplines, adapting lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
    • Integrate hands-on experiments, practical activities, and modern technology to enhance learning.
  2. Student Assessment:
    • Assess students’ understanding and mastery of scientific concepts through tests, quizzes, projects, and lab reports.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students, helping them improve their knowledge and skills.
    • Prepare students for standardized exams and ensure they meet curriculum expectations.
  3. Classroom Management:
    • Maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
    • Address student behavior and academic concerns professionally and supportively.
  4. Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on advancements in science education, including new teaching methods and curriculum changes.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices.
    • Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events as required.
  5. Student Support and Guidance:
    • Offer additional support to students needing extra help in understanding scientific concepts.
    • Encourage students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through scientific inquiry.
    • Inspire a passion for science and its relevance in everyday life and future careers.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with fellow teachers, department heads, and school administration to ensure a cohesive curriculum.
    • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any areas of concern.
    • Contribute to the school community by participating in science clubs, fairs, or extracurricular activities.

 

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field; a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in science, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to teach them effectively across various disciplines.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • A passion for teaching and inspiring students to excel in science.
